Join us for a 11-day field hockey tour in The Netherlands and South-Africa. This trip is custom-tailored for your team, aiming for growth in the sport and an enriching Dutch/ South Africa cultural experience.

Your team’s accommodation for the entire trip will be at a 4-star hotel, conveniently located close to top-notch field hockey facilities. The goal is to combine comfort with practicality.

When it comes to the sport, your team will play friendly matches against opponents that mirror the essence of Dutch hockey. Beyond the matches, our top-level hockey coaches are on hand to deliver sessions that will refine and enhance your team’s skills and strategies. Experience a different playing style compared to your own way of playing field hockey and bring into practice the obtained skills.

 

But this tour isn’t just about hockey. We’ve included some local exploration, such as a relaxing boat tour through the vibrant city of Rotterdam, a beautiful hike up to Lion’s Head in South Africa, and penguin viewing at a bouldering beach. It’s a fantastic opportunity for team bonding while experiencing the scenic beauty of the Netherlands and the stunning nature of South Africa.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrival & training session

  • Arrival: after meeting with your tour manager on Amsterdam Schiphol airport, you will be transferred to your 4* hotel In Schiedam. Located closely to the city of Rotterdam and on walking distance from the renowned hockey facilities of HC Schiedam, this is the ideal starting point of your tour.
  • Training session: In the late-afternoon/evening, a training session under the lead of own coaches at HC Schiedam is scheduled to help you acclimatize to the new environment.

Day 2 – (Pro) Training session & Sightseeing Madurodam – The Hague

  • Pro training session: your team will participate in a pro training session with a professional Dutch pro hockey coach at the facilities of HC Schiedam
  • Sightseeing Madurodam & The Hague: in the afternoon we’ll visit the miniature park of Madurodam which offers a miniature version of the Netherlands. We’ll be able to explore tiny versions of well-known sites such as Schiphol Airport, the Rijksmuseum, the Anne Frank House, and the Port of Rotterdam. After this, the bus will drop us off at The Hague city, which serves as the seat of the Dutch government. Here we will have plenty to do and see ranging from famous museums to visiting Scheveningen Beach.

Day 3 – Sightseeing Amsterdam & Friendly Match

  • Sightseeing Amsterdam: stroll through Amsterdam’s streets and shopping areas and enjoy a 1,5 hour canal cruise over the Amsterdam canals. This tour that includes information about Amsterdam and it canals in your own language, will offer you the best views of the city.
  • Friendly match: in the evening the second friendly match of the Dutch part of the tour will be scheduled at HC Schiedam or at a friendly match venue in the area.

Day 4 – Sightseeing Zaanse Schans & Kings Talent Match Clinic

  • Sightseeing Zaanse Schans: visit a typical Dutch site located in Zaandam where you will see lots of well-preserved historic windmills, traditional wooden houses, and beautiful landscapes. It is an open air museum showing Dutch heritage at its finest.
  • Match Clinic Kings Talent: in the late afternoon or early evening the last fixture in The Netherlands is scheduled, this will be a Match Clinic against Dutch university students applying for a scholarship in the USA. This is part of the Kings Talent project

Day 5 – Pro training session, Sightseeing Rotterdam & Friendly match

  • Pro training session: you will experience a pro hockey session given by a (former) pro hockey coach/international, organized at the facilities of HC Schiedam.
  • Sightseeing Rotterdam: participate in the Splash tour. Board the ‘’Splash bus’’ and explore the main attractions of Rotterdam on land such as the Erasmus Bridge, Markthal and Cube houses. Then, the ‘’Splash bus’ enters the water and transforms into a boat, sailing through Rotterdam’s famous harbour and waterways.
  • Friendly match: in the evening a friendly match will be scheduled to give you the opportunity to compete against a local Dutch opponent for the last time. This will either be hosted at HC Schiedam or at another nearby hockey club.

Day 6 – Travel from Netherlands – South Africa

  • Departure: after check-out at the hotel in Schiedam, you will be transferred to Amsterdam Schiphol airport for your flight to Capetown, South Africa. We will make sure you get there on time for the airport procedures and you’ll get on your flight to your next stop.
  • Arrival in Capetown: after the 11-12 hr flight, we will arrive in Cape Town, South Africa. Here we will be met by our South African tour manager. The bus will take us from Cape Town International Airport to our hotel directly so we can have a well deserved rest and depending on the time of arrival, possibly dinner as well.

Day 7 – Training Session, sightseeing Kirstenbosch & Table Mountain Cable Car

  • Training session: In the early morning after breakfast, a training session under the lead of own coaches at a Cape Town training venue within 10 km’s from your hotel is scheduled. This to help you acclimatize to the new environment and training facilities.
  • Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden: we will start our journey today with a visit of Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, part of Table Mountain National Park. The garden covers 36 hectares, providing visitors with a picturesque setting for leisurely strolls. In the Botanical Gardens we will find diverse Flora & Fauna and the outstanding Boomslang Canopy Walkway offering visitors a unique perspective of the garden and panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. We’ll end our visit with lunch at the gardens.
  • Table Mountain Cable-way: in the afternoon we’ve arranged the famous Table Mountain Cable Car ride, which brings the team on top of Table Mountain. The cable car is the fastest way of getting up, it takes only 5 minutes. During the way up, make sure to enjoy the impressive views over the city of Cape Town. Once arrived at the top, we will be at 3.563 feet above sea level.

Day 8 – Pro training session & Friendly match

  • Pro training session: In the morning, a pro hockey training session will be organized by top hockey coach Greg Clark who is a former international as well. Try to adapt to the South African playing style during this 1,5 hour session.
  • Friendly match: we’ll play our first friendly match against a South African opponent, possibly at a Cape Town university hockey venue performing at a high level. Experience a different playing style compared to your own way of playing field hockey and bring into practice the obtained skills.

Day 9 – Lions head & Boulders Beach

  • Hiking up Lions Head: we’ll start the day off with a visit to the top of Lion’s Head Mountain, part of the Table Mountain National Park. It’s peak is at 669 m above sea level. Hiking up can be challenging but definitely a great team achievement once we’ve reached the top. Here we’ll get the change to enjoy breathtaking views of Cape Town.
  • Boulders Beach – Penguin viewing: we’ll continue the day with one of the main attractions of Capetown, Boulders Bouch. We’ll drive here via the Chapman’s peak drive where we will get spoiled with some spectacular views of the Cape coastline.
    The picturesque beach sheltered by large granite boulders, is famous for its colony of penguins nesting here. The beach offers an unique opportunity to observe penguins up close in their natural habitat. Make sure to enjoy South African nature at its best during the rest of the afternoon.

Day 10 – Robben Island (incl. visit Mandela’s prison cell) & Friendly match

  • Robben Island – visit Mandela’s prison cell: during an approx. 4 hour organized tour, we will travel to Robben Island by ferry which departs from V&A Waterfront closely located to your hotel. The island located just off the coast of Cape Town holds significant historical and cultural importance and is known as the place where Nelson Mandela was kept prisoner during the Apartheid. During our tour we will be visiting the cell of Nelson Mandela amongst others.
  • Friendly match: in the late afternoon, our second and final friendly match in Cape Town is scheduled. This means we’ll get one final opportunity to measure our skills when playing against a South African hockey team.

Day 11 – Departure back home

  • Departure: after check-out at the hotel, you will be transferred to Cape Town International Airport where you proceed with check-inn and dropping off your luggage. We will wave you goodbye and hope you to see you again in the future!

starts from 2.795,- euro.

 Exact pricing depends on number of participants, type of accommodation (hotel ***/****),
stay in single, twin or triple rooms and time of the year traveling.

BOOKING INFORMATION

How does it work (booking process)

Step 1

Like what you see and wish to contact us? Great! Please do so via below contact information button. We will get back to you asap to determine important details of your preferred tour such as number of persons, travelling dates etc. Following we will send you a quote which is already specified to your preferences.

Step 2

As soon as all details of the tour have been discussed and you have accepted our quote, we will send you a contractual agreement containing all inclusions of the tour. This agreement needs to be signed by you in order to confirm the tour.

Step 3

As soon as we’ve received the signed agreement back, we can gladly tell you the tour has been booked! Our finance department will now send you the deposit invoice.

Step 4

Once you’ve received the invoice, 25% of invoice amount (down payment) needs to be paid within 8 days of invoice date. 75% of invoice amount needs to be paid 8 weeks before departure.

Step 5

After we have received your down payment, we will start the organizing process. This means our Operations department will contact you to gather the necessary information and make the first arrangements for your team.
