Elite International Hockey on Display in Eindhoven
From the very first whistle at 09:00, it was clear that the level of competition at this year’s edition is exceptionally high. Teams from the Netherlands, England, Belgium and South Africa competed across four pools, each bringing their own playing style and energy to the tournament.
The matches were played on top-quality water-based pitches, ensuring fast and technical hockey throughout the day. Despite changing weather conditions, ranging from sunny spells to occasional rain, the majority of the day provided excellent playing conditions with dry and slightly cloudy skies.
Tight Battles and Dominant Performances in the Pool Phase
The pool stage delivered a mix of closely contested matches and dominant wins. One of the standout moments came in Pool A, where three teams, Royal Orée, HC Knole Park and HC Oranje-Rood, all finished level on five points. Goal difference ultimately decided the rankings, with Royal Orée securing first place, followed by HC Knole Park and HC Oranje-Rood.
Royal Orée also recorded the largest win of the first day of the Holland Elite Hockey Cup, defeating Tophockey Talenten Academie U12-2 by an impressive 7–0 margin, highlighting their attacking strength.
In Pool B, HV Victoria showed consistency to finish top of the group, ahead of Guildford Hockey Club and HC ’s-Hertogenbosch. Meanwhile, in Pool C, East Grinstead HC proved to be one of the strongest teams of the day, finishing first after a series of convincing performances.
Pool D was led by HC Rotterdam, who delivered a flawless group stage, finishing ahead of HC Athena, KHC Dragons/Gantoise and BRSI Knights.
Teams of the Day: Rotterdam and East Grinstead Impress
Two teams stood out above the rest on Day 1: HC Rotterdam and East Grinstead HC. Both sides managed to win all of their pool matches and carried that momentum into the quarter-finals.
HC Rotterdam secured a strong 3–1 victory over SCHC U12-1 in their quarter-final, while East Grinstead HC continued their impressive run with a narrow but important 1–0 win against HC Athena.
Their performances underline the high level of consistency and quality required to compete at this tournament, and both teams have positioned themselves as serious contenders heading into the final day.

Beyond the matches themselves, the atmosphere around the pitches was exceptional. Players, coaches and supporters created a vibrant and energetic environment throughout the first day of the Holland Elite Hockey Cup.
International support was clearly visible, with Belgian teams bringing flags and noise-making support, while the South African team added their own colours and energy to the event.
